If the player upgrades any of the Automaton puppets to level 3 requiring the completion of Chapter 22 , Yukimura will appear and offer Corrin his services.

Assuring Corrin that he has left the capital and palace well-defended with automatons, he decides to join them in light of the strength that they have built up.

Yukimura subsequently aids Corrin's effort to put an end to the age-old conflict shared between Hoshido and Nohr. A peace treaty is thereafter signed between the two nations, following which Yukimura crowns Ryoma as the new king of Hoshido.

Yukimura first appears in Chapter 6 , where he, alongside the rest of the Hoshidan forces, turns hostile towards Corrin after they choose to side with Nohr.

When faced in battle with Corrin, Yukimura will bitterly comment on Corrin taking up arms against Hoshido, stating that their actions would have broken Mikoto's heart.

Recognizing that she would very likely have accepted Corrin's decision nevertheless, Yukimura then announces his intention to prevent them from returning to Nohr.

Despite the efforts of the Hoshidan army, they are eventually defeated and forced to retreat from the Plains of Hoshido. Yukimura next appears in Chapter 22 , where he, alongside Sakura and her retainers, stages a defense in Fort Jinya in a bid to halt the impending Nohrian invasion.

Shortly before the start of the battle, Yukimura tries but fails, to convince Sakura to retreat into the castle, as she resolves to fight in order to protect Hoshido.

Shaken by her mettle, Yukimura acquiesces after making arrangements to keep Sakura protected during the course of battle. Despite the valiant defense staged by the Hoshidans, the Hoshidan forces are eventually defeated, and Yukimura calls for them to lay down their weapons and surrender.

He then informs Xander of their decision and pleads with him to spare Sakura. Although reluctant, Corrin subsequently takes both Yukimura and Sakura as prisoners of war.

At this point, Hans and Iago enter the scene with Garon , whereupon Hans embarks on a killing spree, prompting Yukimura to vehemently question Xander's promise to spare the lives of the surrendered soldiers.

Xander intended to uphold his promise, but Garon 's sudden appearance forced him to rescind it, and Yukimura is hauled away as he curses the Nohrians, vowing to never forgive them.

He is taken prisoner and fortunately spared alongside Sakura and her retainers, though most of the remaining prisoners weren't so lucky. After Corrin and their Nohrian allies end the war, Yukimura accompanies Sakura and Hinoka to attend Xander's coronation as the successor to the throne of Nohr.

Yukimura makes his first appearance in Chapter 8 , where he, Saizo and Orochi are stationed at Fort Jinya after the battle between Hoshido and Nohr in the Plains of Hoshido concludes.

Corrin eventually arrives at the fort in hopes of gaining support from Hoshido, but they are instead viciously branded a traitor and attacked on sight.

Despite the best efforts of the Hoshidan army, they are eventually defeated. When Corrin decides not to kill any of the Hoshidans, Yukimura expresses confusion and asks for an explanation, only for them to remain cryptic and continue asking for the cooperation of Hoshido.

Yukimura still refuses to help, saying he will not betray Hoshido. Saizo, unable to withstand what he considers to be Corrin's nonsense, then attempts to blow himself up to take them out.

Fortunately, Kaze and Sakura enter the scene and manage to convince Saizo otherwise. Knowing the inherent kindness of Corrin, Sakura and Kaze make the decision to pledge themselves to their cause.

Yukimura initially protests Sakura's decision but backs down once he recognizes her earnestness, asking her to stay safe on the journey. He later lets Corrin's party leave the fort without any further opposition.

Yukimura next appears in the opening sequence of Chapter 16 , where he fiercely defends Castle Shirasagi from a Nohrian invasion alongside Hinoka.

Ryoma and Scarlet enter the scene shortly thereafter and aid him in clearing the area of foes. Ryoma and Scarlet reveal to Yukimura that they encountered Corrin in Nestra , and asked them to help.

Yukimura recalls the same thing Corrin had said to him. Hinoka later joins in on the conversation and decides to join Ryoma to help Corrin out and task Yukimura with protecting the castle.

Before leaving, Yukimura asks them to stay safe and not to complain if their rooms get destroyed during the battle.

Even though automatons can be built by the player in Revelation , Yukimura is not playable in this route. With an intellect sharpened and honed since childhood through fervent study under the tutelage of his father and King Sumeragi , Yukimura often carries himself with a demeanor of calm collectedness as he carefully crafts strategies to lead his allies to victory in battle.

The aura of calm that Yukimura exudes is also exemplified through his speech, where the formal politeness that he adopts reflects his position as a learned, wise man of an acute intellect.

In his supports with the male Corrin , Yukimura reveals that he was once incapable of comprehending the meaning of compassion in his youth, where he was admonished by Sumeragi for devising a strategy that blatantly disregarded the value of human life.

Through the experience of years, Yukimura has transformed into an individual who no longer acts purely on logic and reason, instead of allowing his final judgments of situations to be complemented by emotion as well.

Although he is very much devoted to his neverending quest for knowledge, Yukimura is not without hobbies that he engages in for amusement.

In his free time, he is known to enjoy designing and crafting new devices for everyday life. He kills Lilith with an attack meant for Corrin before being slain in battle.

The Hoshidans begin their assault of Castle Krakenburg , and encounter Iago once again, who reveals that Takumi's brainwashing was not totally cured and that he has been unwittingly feeding intelligence to the Nohrians and used him to figure out their location each time throughout the entire war.

Corrin manages to permanently break him free, and they defeat Iago once more, who then attempts to escape his punishment, but he is interrupted by Leo, who calls him out for disgracing Nohr and warns him he will no longer allow him to do so and will kill him.

Iago begs a second time, but Leo kills him, putting an end to his cowardly schemes for good. Leo informs Corrin that he has been enlightened on the righteousness of their cause, but admits that he is still unable to join them in fighting Garon and cannot aid them further, but he will not stop them and allows them to pass.

The group then encounters Xander, the only person left guarding Garon. Corrin is forced to duel Xander alone. After a tumultuous battle, Xander nearly executes Corrin, however Elise, unwilling to see her two beloved siblings fight, intercepts the fatal strike and dies in Xander's arms.

Despite the result, Xander refuses to back down and continues to fight Corrin, but merely allows Corrin to defeat him.

Fatally wounded and fully aware of King Garon's madness, he tasks Corrin with defeating Garon before he dies.

At the climax of Birthright , Corrin finally confronts Garon in the Royal Chamber to end his reign and manages to defeat him. Left unconscious, Corrin is visited by Flora, Lilith, Xander, and Elise who encourage Corrin to return and continue to fight back.

Corrin is also encouraged by the voice of the Hoshidan army, whose pleas spur them to stand back up. Now fully recovered, they reforge the Yato and unlocks its full potential thanks to its resonation with the Raijinto , creating the Blazing Yato.

The Hoshidan army proceeds to fight Garon again with Azura who uses her special song to weaken him. After a lengthy battle, Corrin, Azura, and the Hoshidan army finally kills Garon for good.

Azura, who had overtaxed herself by singing her special song throughout Birthright , dissolves into water as she thanks Corrin for ending the war.

With the death of King Garon, the war between Hoshido and Nohr ends. Now with both kingdoms at peace and without rulers, Ryoma takes it upon himself to take his rightful place as King of Hoshido and states that they made peace with Nohr to avoid another war.

At his ascension, Camila and Leo also come to the ceremony. Camila announces that she has relinquished her title as rightful ruler of Nohr to Leo, making him the King of Nohr, as she does not want to rule the kingdom, while they also mourn the loss of Xander and Elise.

With the first sign of peace, the Hoshido siblings and Corrin head to the festival in town. Taking a break from the festival, Corrin wanders to the lake where they first met Azura.

Suddenly, Corrin can hear her song and sees a hallucination of her. Azura asks what Corrin sees in the lake. As they look, they simply thank Azura for being a selfless person, but her visage disappears.

Azura hopes that they will meet again one day, a sentiment that Corrin shares. At the newly rebuilt Castle Town, a statue of Mikoto has been erected.

The Hoshidan siblings vow to continue to restore peace to the world to the statue of their mother, with Corrin continuing to help. Corrin, having unanswered questions, decides to side with Nohr in order to learn more about King Garon's intentions.

Despite the Hoshidan Royal Family's plea for them to reconsider, Corrin remains stalwart with their decision and the Nohrian Royal Siblings help to repel the Hoshidan royal family.

Victorious of their first battle, the Nohrian royal family returns to Castle Krakenburg with Corrin in tow, much to Garon's displeasure in their return.

Wanting to test their loyalty, Garon tasks Corrin with quelling a rebellion at the Ice Tribe alone among other tasks, each one more grueling on Corrin's faith and beliefs of not wanting to cause unnecessary bloodshed.

Iago , King Garon's tactician, orchestrates much hardships for Corrin throughout Conquest , but Corrin pulls through each attempt.

After rescuing the Rainbow Sage at Notre Sagesse , he unlocks the Yato's power, allowing it to resonate with Leo's Brynhildr , achieving the Grim Yato form, but not the full power of the blade yet.

The Rainbow Sage proceeds to commit suicide to prevent his power from being further used. Garon, pleased by Corrin's supposed actions for the sake of Nohr, finally allows them to follow him closely, tasking them to fight for Nohr's conquest of Hoshido.

He sends Corrin Corrin to a stop the rebellion uprising that has broken out in Cheve. The Nohrians come out victorious and the army has spared the lives of the enemy soldiers, but Hans, along with his goons, starts killing not only the remaining wounded Hoshidan troops and Chevian knights, but also the Chevian civilians following Corrin's defeat of Scarlet, having been ordered by Garon to do so.

Corrin attempts to stop him, but Hans claims that he is just following Garon's orders and that he cannot listen to Corrin since Garon's word is law, before continuing his killing spree.

Corrin is upset at the needless slaughter and decides they must confront Garon. At the Opera House a mysterious songstress causes great pain in King Garon through her dance, prompting him to have Corrin slaughtering of all songstresses and dancers in Cyrkensia.

Corrin retaliates by trying to raise their objection to his demand, instigating an argument that sees Garon becoming progressively infuriated and threatening Corrin.

Leo quickly gets Corrin out of Garon's sight, and reasons with Corrin that while he disagrees with Garon's inhumane ways, it is still wholly unwise to openly defy him as this could result in their death.

Revealing that he and his siblings have constantly appeared to comply with Garon's orders while doing good behind the scenes, Leo quickly comes up with a plan to rescue as many of the songstresses from Garon's wrath as possible.

Shortly before the plan is carried out, Leo's Brynhildr suddenly reacts with Corrin's Yato without any prior warning, transforming it into the Grim Yato.

Corrin eventually follows Azura to a lake where they watch as she descends and disappears into the depths. Corrin follows suit and winds up in a mysterious world and reunites with Gunter, who had miraculously survived his fall.

Azura helps them return back to their world. Azura tells Corrin in order to bring peace to the world, they must kill Garon and she shows Corrin an orb, showing Garon's true form, a horrendous water demon.

Azura tells Corrin that they cannot tell their siblings about the other world due to the curse and they need to make Garon sit on the throne in Castle Shirasagi, as the throne is said to reveal a person's true form, so they can kill him to finally end the war.

Corrin travels with the Nohrian Army, now in full force, as they proceed to conquer the Hoshidan territories. During their entrance to the Hoshidan capital, Iago orchestrates another attack on the Eternal Stairway, resulting in the death of Lilith who took a fatal blow from a Faceless ambush.

Corrin is forced to fight each of the Royal Siblings, though they do their best to spare their lives. Sakura is fought first, but Corrin defeats her forces and takes her as a prisoner of war to protect her, though her men are killed by Hans, and Garon arrives to support it.

They encounter Takumi next, who is defeated, but after the battle, even though he was not fatally wounded, he flings himself off the fort after refusing to surrender.

Finally, just outside of Castle Shirasagi, Hinoka makes a final stand, but she too is defeated. Corrin decides to defy Garon and tells her to hide until the end of the war, but takes her bloodied naginata as "proof" of her execution.

The Nohrian army finally arrives as Castle Shirasagi where they make the final assault to get Garon to the throne.

There Corrin presents Hinoka's naginata to Garon as proof of her demise. Iago voices his distrust, but Garon believes them and silences Iago.

Inside, they encounter Ryoma, who acts as the final defense. Iago throws Hinoka's naginata and tells Ryoma that Corrin killed her, which they begrudgingly are forced to lie that Hinoka was slain by them.

Enraged by Corrin's actions, Ryoma engages Corrin in a one-on-one duel. Despite a grueling duel, Corrin barely emerges victorious.

King Garon appears and orders Corrin to execute Ryoma. Knowing that Corrin's goodwill remains and that Corrin will die if they do not execute him, Ryoma performs seppuku to spare them the agony.

With the death of Ryoma, Garon heads to the Throne Room to finish his conquest but forbids his children and his loyalist from entering. Outside, Iago attempts to murder Corrin for sparing Hinoka, but the Nohrian Royal Siblings intervene and decides to kill the traitorous Iago as well as Hans and Garon's loyalist for staining the glory of Nohr with their cowardly and disgraceful schemes, and they are taking back Nohr from them, leading to the battle between the Nohrian royals and Garon's loyalist.

They manage to kill Hans and all of Garon's loyalist and they corner Iago, and he disgracefully attempts to beg for his life by accusing Garon of making him fight and that and he does not deserve to die, but Leo silences Iago's pitiful attempt to receive mercy, citing his shameless crimes, especially causing great suffering towards Corrin and knowing he will not stop trying to kill Corrin, Leo mercilessly executes Iago, putting an end to his schemes against Corrin and avenging all the people they killed.

With Iago's death, Corrin finally reveals to their siblings that the war isn't over yet and Garon has to be killed so they can bring true peace to the world.

Corrin reveals to their siblings that the real Garon has been long dead and the one they have been with is nothing more than a puppet to a greater force and that there's no way to save him, killing him in the only option.

Despite their disbelief in Corrin's claim, they decide to enter the Hoshidian Throne, where they see Garon's true form being exposed for sitting on the throne, proving Azura's claims.

The siblings are saddened by this revelation and refuse to fight their "father. Corrin attempts to attack Garon, but the Yato is unable to hurt him.

Suddenly, Xander defends them, calls out the fake Garon, stating he is no longer his father and tells Corrin he will help them kill Garon.

With the power of the Shadow Yato, Xander encourages the Nohrian siblings to help Corrin kill Garon and they all agree to put end to Garon's reign of terror, and Garon is finally killed for good.

As they celebrate their victory, Takumi makes a sudden appearance, wreathed in a mysterious miasma. Using his bow, he shatters Corrin's Yato and knocks them unconscious.

In a dream, Corrin encounters Lilith, Mikoto, and Ryoma, who encourage them to finish the fight. The real Takumi also appears, stating that the "Takumi" they were facing is no more than another puppet for the same mysterious force controlling Garon.

After freeing Kagero from the Mokushujin , they go to Cheve to meet Ryoma. After Corrin's army defeats them, Corrin asks Camilla to join him. She agrees, as she would have been executed by Garon for her failure if she returned home, while Flora goes into hiding with the Ice Tribe.

When they arrive at Cyrkensia, they see that it is in ruins from a battle between Hoshidans and Nohrians. Each group believes the other is destroying the city, but it is actually the Vallites.

After a battle against both, Azura calms Ryoma and Xander with her song. Meanwhile, Xander returns to Nohr to discuss a matter with his father, and Hans and Iago discuss this, the latter believing Xander to have come under Corrin's influence.

Elise overhears some of this, and believes that if Camilla is with Corrin, then Corrin must not be a traitor after all and she decides to take action.

Xander and Leo go to Garon, where Leo explains that something is wrong with Garon, but Xander brushes it off and believes if they crush Hoshido, Garon will return to his former self, but Leo disagrees and when they see Garon, who is acting maniacally, tells Xander to destroy Hoshido and Nohr.

Leo discusses with Xander in private how Garon might actually be controlled by someone else, as Corrin said, only for Xander to dismiss this.

Xander mentions Corrin's request to meet him at the Bottomless Canyon. Corrin and their army arrive at Port Dia.

They are attacked by several Nohrians. After passing his trial, he unlocks some of the Yato's power, transforming it into the Seal of Flames, the Alpha Yato.

He says that it needs all five divine weapons together to become the Fire Emblem. The Rainbow Sage then dies of old age.

They then go to defeat and slain Iago as well, with the help of Xander and Leo. With the Hoshidian and Nohrian siblings at their side, they all enter Valla.

On the way down, Chevois rebel leader Scarlet is killed by a mysterious figure, who claims to be a forgotten god.

The others believe that there must have been a traitor. They arrive in Valla, and are guided through by Anthony , a Vallite boy. Anthony leads Corrin alone through the back door of a fortress to prove he is not a traitor, and they are ambushed, Anthony revealing that he is a servant of Anankos.

Corrin had planned for this, and the others come and rescue him. Anthony is then transformed into a Faceless by the fortress's magic, and killed by Corrin's army.

They fight Arete , Azura's mother and the former queen of Valla, who is the mage from Corrin's first trip to Valla. She is now just a puppet with no memories of her life.

After her death, she remembers her life, talks with Azura, and dies. In the castle, Mikoto , Corrin's mother, attempts to trick Corrin into believing she is not a puppet.

However, this is a lie which Corrin anticipated. They defeat her, and she regains her memories. She talks with Corrin, telling them she was Arete's sister, and dies.

They meet up with Azura. They fight Sumeragi , the father of the Hoshidan royals, who is revealed to be the cloaked swordsman who broke the Hoshidan barrier and killed Mikoto.

After his defeat, he talks to Corrin about Mikoto, and then dies. Gunter reveals himself to be the traitor, controlled by Anankos.

After Gunter's defeat, Corrin helps him overcome Anankos' control. He explains that Garon massacred his village and family after he refused an offer to directly serve him, causing a deep-seated grudge against the Nohrian royal family that Anankos took advantage of to control him.

Corrin and their companions wound Anankos, who summons Garon and eats him to restore his strength. However, Corrin is able to overcome him and finally slay him, putting an end to his threats and machinations once and for all.

Afterwards, Ryoma is crowned King of Hoshido, Xander is crowned King of Nohr, and the two grant some of their land to Corrin, who restores Valla as its new ruler.

The three kingdoms finally forge an everlasting peace which Corrin and their families vow to uphold for the rest of their days.

It was mentioned in the Nintendo Direct broadcast of January that the choices the player makes during gameplay will have a "greater than ever" effect on the game's world [3].

It was also revealed that the game will feature challenges "the likes of which have never been seen in the series, up until now". The Pair Up system introduced in Awakening returns [6] , but it and the accompanying dual guard and dual attack mechanics have been changed.

Dual attacks now only occur when the units are adjacent, but not paired up, and dual guards only occur between paired up units.

Monsters make a return, with a golem like monster bearing the Mouth of Truth Stoneborn as a face appearing in the CGI trailer. The game also features damage to a unit's armor, in the Nintendo direct, Corrin is seen attacking an axe using enemy, when the enemy takes damage, their pauldrons shatter.

This feature is purely aesthetic, and has no direct effect on gameplay. This was actually present as a feature in Fire Emblem Awakening , but only seen on Grima ; his face plate is destroyed past a certain amount of damage.

Some terrain bonuses have been altered; for example, water tiles now subtract 10 avoid. Weapon durability has been removed, similarly to Fire Emblem Gaiden.

Fates also introduces "Phoenix Mode", wherein fallen units are revived the turn after they are defeated. Unlike other games, non-human weapons such as dragonstones and beaststones now have a weapon level that can increase from E to A like most other weapons.

Between all three campaigns, there is a total of 69 playable units, 21 of whom are second-generation units obtained by pairing the initial cast.

Outside of the initial 69 units, Anna can be obtained in all three routes via DLC. Marth , Ike , Lucina , and Robin may be recruited in all three routes via amiibo connectivity, and Marth , Lucina , and Minerva may be obtained in Japan only, via download codes distributed in special packs of Fire Emblem Cipher cards.

Fire Emblem if was first revealed world-wide in a Nintendo Direct broadcast on January 14th, , although in the international broadcasts it was known only as "the latest in the Fire Emblem series".

Although the game was confirmed for localization when it was first announced in January, it was announced at E3 , where its English name, Fates , was confirmed.

Unlike the preceding games, Shadow Dragon and Awakening , Fates was localized in-house by Treehouse at Nintendo of America instead of being outsourced to During E3, Nintendo of America featured Fates several times on its Treehouse gameplay stream, demonstrating the game in English albeit at a relatively early stage of the localisation process: debug information was displayed on the bottom screen at various points, the translation of My Castle had not been implemented, and the game apparently crashed during the playing of a cutscene.

Nintendo's South Korean subsidiary has confirmed that Fates will be the first Fire Emblem game to be translated into the Korean language and officially published in South Korea.

Owing to the long window between Japanese and English release a group calling themselves "Team If" [16] began work on a full text fan-translation of the game.

The translation effort was bolstered when international previews and footage revealed the removal of the face petting My Castle minigame from international releases.

The initial project was cancelled in March , [17] but the patch received an update by a different team in December who used the same name. Artwork from the Japanese official site.

The Special Edition released in the rest of the world contains all three campaigns on a single cartridge, allowing players who purchased the Special Edition at launch to experience Revelation before its official release.

The story features two opposing kingdoms, the black kingdom of Nohr, and the white kingdom of Hoshido. Corrin is allegedly a blood descendant of the Hoshido family, however, Corrin was kidnapped by Garon and placed into the care of the Nohr royal family.

The major choices in the game revolve around who Corrin wishes to align with throughout the story. Corrin dreams of a battlefield where forces from Hoshido clash with the Nohr army, and both sides ask Corrin to fight with them.

Corrin is then awoken by Felicia and Flora in the Northern Fortress, where Corrin grew in seclusion with the royal family of Nohr.

After a training round with Xander , Corrin is allowed to finally leave the castle and the royal family departs to Windmire to meet with King Garon , their father.

The king gives Corrin the sword Ganglari to kill two Hoshidan prisoners, Kaze and Rinkah , as a test of loyalty and ability. Corrin defeats the prisoners but refuses to kill unarmed foes, enraging Garon.

The fort proves to be occupied by Hoshidan forces, and Hans betrays Corrin and knocks Gunter into the Canyon on Garon's orders. While retreating, Corrin also falls into the Canyon.

Lilith then appears and takes Corrin to a pocket dimension , revealing herself to be an Astral Dragon. When sent back to the normal world, Corrin is captured by Rinkah and brought to Hoshido.

However, in place of being executed, Corrin is recognized as the lost member of the Hoshidan royal family, kidnapped by Garon during a previous war with Nohr.

Corrin struggles to accept the Hoshidan as a family and Queen Mikoto as a mother until meeting Azura , a Nohr princess kidnapped by the Hoshidan in the same manner as Corrin.

During the ceremony where the return of Corrin was to be publicly announced, Mikoto is killed by ghastly warriors using Ganglari, revealing that Corrin served as a vessel for the sword to kill Mikoto and take down the barrier keeping Nohr forces out of Hoshido.

Enraged and grieving, Corrin transforms into a Feral Dragon , the attackers are killed and Azura manages to make Corrin return to human form. After receiving a dragonstone from Azura to help control the dragon form, Corrin is brought to a battlefield similar to the opening dream, where the royal families of Hoshido and Nohr will fight.

Corrin sides with Hoshido, refusing to serve King Garon, and the Hoshidan royals force their Nohr counterparts to retreat.

Soon afterward, Corrin, along with Sakura , helps in the defense of Fort Jinya against Nohr invaders, recruiting an old Nohr friend in the process, and learns about the disappearance of Ryoma and Takumi near Izumo.

While passing through Wind Tribe territory, Corrin's soldiers and Wind Tribe combatants are tricked into attacking each other by Iago , Garon's advisor.

Corrin's army is then forced to fight the Wind Tribe to prove their innocence, but eventually reaches Izumo after recruiting a young Wind Tribe diviner and Hinoka.

At the end of the fight, Zola is taken as a prisoner and Leo , of the Nohr royal family, briefly appears, letting Corrin notice a change for the worst in his behavior.

Heading for the Bottomless Canyon to investigate the site of a recent battle, Corrin's army is attacked by the Mokushu ninjas, who were promised lands if they sided with Nohr against Hoshido.

During the battle, a entranced Takumi appears and is brought to his senses by Azura's chants. The prince tells about how he and Ryoma were attacked by overwhelming Nohr forces before falling in the Bottomless Canyon and losing memories of the next events.

Corrin's forces also free Kagero , one of Ryoma's retainers, who reports that the crown prince went for Cheve in Nohr after hearing about a civil strife.

The party ships a boat to travel to Nohr, but they are attacked by the same warriors that killed Mikoto. Zola gains the trust of Takumi by taking a blow in his place.

In Cyrkensia , Corrin meets Kaden and Layla , a singer who must perform for Garon despite her mother dying.

Azura sees an opportunity to use Zola's illusions to make her look like Layla while singing, letting the others set an ambush against the Nohr king.

However, Garon reveals that he was prepared for the attack and Zola is revealed to be a spy. But the mage asks that Corrin be spared and Garon kills him, his show of cruelty shocking Corrin once again.

Overwhelmed, Corrin must retreat and is briefly confronted by Xander until Elise interrupts him. Afterwards, Azura is shown collapsing of exhaustion for a short while, but assures Corrin she is fine.

In Cheve, Corrin fights Camilla and her retainers. After defeating Camilla, Corrin finally reunites with Ryoma and with all the Hoshidian family together at last, they push through the Nohrian border and is accidentally drawn into a conflict with the wolfskin tribe led by Keaton.

Afterwards, a rockslide occurs, potentially resulting in Kaze's death should he have not bonded with Corrin enough. As the group approaches Palace Macarath, Takumi contracts a deadly illness.

With the aid of Flora , the group finds medicine to treat him in Macarath and defeats an apparition of Iago, who warns Corrin that there is a traitor in their group.

The group then reaches the Ice Tribe village, where Flora is forced to betray the group by Garon in order to protect the villagers.

After her defeat, she commits suicide by self-immolation. Corrin next encounters Leo again, and defeats him in battle. However, Corrin refuses to slay the man they once called brother.

Azura gives him a crystal that will reveal the true nature of the war to him, and Leo gives them a magic tome that transports them to Notre Sagesse.

There, Corrin meets the Rainbow Sage, who blesses the Yato. Afterwards, the Hoshidans enter Fort Dragonfall, where Iago traps them inside using the power he got from Garon and summons Faceless against them.

After the battle, with Azura's song power, the Hoshidans escape the fortress alive, and Azura sneaks away to hide the consequences of using her power.

Corrin notices that it is getting worse, and she admits that the more powerful the target, the more energy she uses, and that using it too long would kill her.

Corrin asks her not to use it again, fearing for her life. Azura complies but tells them that she will need to use it on Garon to end the war.

Then, the Hoshidans push their way into Windmire and defeat Shura, who then joins the army and shows them the tunnel to reach Castle Krakenburg.

The group enters the Windmire underground, where they encounter Elise, who reveals that she's been staying there ever since Corrin left Nohr and her family don't speak to each other anymore since the war began.

After learning Corrin's desire to end the war and hoping they could become a family again, Elise agrees to aid them in order to stop the war and bring peace.

After subduing Camilla one last time, the group encounters Hans once again. He kills Lilith with an attack meant for Corrin before being slain in battle.

The Hoshidans next encounter Iago, who reveals that Takumi's brainwashing was not totally cured and that he has been unwittingly feeding intelligence to the Nohrians and used him to figure out their location each time throughout the entire war.

Corrin manages to permanently break him free, and they defeat Iago once more, who then attempts to beg for his life, but he is interrupted by Leo, who calls him out for trying to escape his fate in a coward way and warns him he will not let him disgrace Nohr's honor any longer and Leo mercilessly executes him, putting an end to his schemes for good.

Leo tells Corrin he knows now that Garon must be stopped, but is unable to bring himself to fight against him and allows Corrin and the army to pass through.

The group then encounters Xander, the last person left guarding Garon, who challenges Corrin to a duel to the death.

He initially overwhelms Corrin and prepares to strike them down, but Elise jumps in the way and is fatally wounded. Heartbroken at having accidentally killed his own sister, Xander forces Corrin to kill him.

Before passing on forever, Xander tells Corrin to bring peace to the world as he could not and Xander says that Garon is no longer the person he used to be, and Corrin promises to stop him for both of their sakes.

With no one left in their way, Corrin finally reaches the throne room of Castle Krakenburg, and faces down Garon in battle to end his reign.

While the Hoshidans initially gain the advantage, Garon transforms into a monstrous Blight Dragon and mortally wounds Corrin, destroying the Yato in the process.

On the verge of death, Corrin has a vision of Xander, Elise, Flora and Lilith encouraging them to continue. Corrin returns from the brink, with the new restored Yato and Azura sings a forbidden cursed song to weaken Garon.

The Hoshidans finally slay Garon once and for all, who then delivers some strange dying words that lead Corrin to wonder if he may have been dead all along.

Afterwards, the power of the song drains all of Azura's life energy, killing her. Leo has taken over as the new King of Nohr when Camilla turns it down, not wanting to rule a kingdom.

Ryoma vows to arrange a favorable peace treaty with Nohr to prevent another war in the future. Afterwards, Corrin briefly sees an apparition of Azura before reuniting with their Hoshidan siblings back in the capital as Ryoma prays to Mikoto, saying that together, the Hoshido royal family will continue to bring peace to the world.

Corrin is unable to betray their Nohrian kin, and together they repel the Hoshidan army. To test their loyalty, Garon sends them on a suicide mission to the Ice Tribe to quell a rebellion single-handedly.

With the aid of Elise, who defies Garon's orders, Corrin successfully stops the rebellion without a single death. Afterwards, Garon sends them to conquer Notre Sagesse.

Along the way, Corrin encounters Azura and rescues her from a group of Hoshidans who intend to kill her due to her Nohrian heritage.

Realizing she has no more place in Hoshido, she joins Corrin. Corrin also gets into confrontations with Takumi, who is enraged over Corrin's betrayal, and Hinoka, who is bitterly resigned to their choice.

During the battle with Takumi, Camilla returns and joins Corrin's forces. The group meets the Rainbow Sage, who advises Corrin to unlock the Seal of Flames to bring peace to the continent.

Takumi tasks them with defeating the shell of his body and laments that they could have fought together in another path.

Spurred further by the forces of the Nohrian army, Corrin recovers and proceeds to fight alongside the army. Throughout the battle, Azura uses her song to weaken Takumi and thanks to her efforts alongside Corrin and the Nohrian army, Takumi is finally put to rest.

However, Azura mysteriously vanished after the battle, likely dissolving into water due to overusing her powers, much like she did in Birthright.

After the war, with the defeat of both Garon and Takumi, peace has been restored to both Hoshido and Nohr. With both nations without their former rulers, Xander takes it upon himself to ascend the throne and take his place as the new King of Nohr and states that they have made peace with Hoshido, ending their conflict.

Hinoka and Sakura safely survived the war thanks to Corrin and were set free. With the death of Ryoma and Takumi, Hinoka becomes the new Queen of Hoshido and a new peace treaty has been established between the kingdoms.

While Hinoka is more or less content with the deal and holds no personal animosity against the Nohrian royals, she warns them that it will take a long time to mend all the wounds left by the invasion.

After encountering Azura's spirit one last time, Corrin vows to continue to spread peace for the world, now with his Nohrian siblings by their side.

Corrin, unable to bear the thought of fighting either of their families, decides to not ally with either.

After taking down the lead commanders of the Nohrian and Hoshidan armies, both perceive this act as treason and Corrin is forced to flee.

Azura brings them and either Felicia or Jakob to the Bottomless Canyon where she makes them jump with her. They arrive in the kingdom of Valla, where Azura is finally able to reveal the secrets of the kingdom and its role behind the conflict between Hoshido and Nohr.

Additionally, they're reunited with a still-alive Gunter. With the identity of the true enemy known, Azura encourages Corrin to get the armies of Nohr and Hoshido to cooperate in order to battle the Kingdom of Valla and its ruler, the dragon Anankos.

Corrin travels through Hoshido and Nohr, gathering forces from both nations by gaining their trust. Though not fully powered, Corrin now has the means to stop Anankos.

At the climax of the first half, some of the royals decide to join Corrin's quest, having found the strength of their bond with them enough to trust them.

At the Bottomless Canyon, Corrin's army defeats Hans and Iago, who were both sent by Garon to stop them, and Ryoma and Xander form a truce between their nations in order to stop the Kingdom of Valla.

As the two armies jump into the Canyon, Corrin is ambushed by a mysterious assailant, but Scarlet takes the blow for Corrin and dies.

During their travels through Valla, the army encounters a Vallite boy, Anthony , who supposedly managed to escape Anankos' control, however, this turns out to be a ploy and he betrays the army.

However, he is swiftly dispatched once he is transformed into a Faceless when his failures upset Anankos. As the army approaches the Vallite castle, unrest begins to form due to a string of attacks on the army, hinting that someone may be a spy.

They later encounter a resurrected and controlled Arete , the former Queen of both Valla and Nohr, and Azura's mother. After battling her several times, she is finally defeated and freed from Anankos' control.

Gunter, revealed as being possessed and responsible for the events leading there. Now in the full assault of the Castle, Corrin encounters Mikoto, who is revived as another one of Anankos' puppets.

After defeating her, Mikoto reveals that Corrin is actually a member of the Vallite royalty and is released from Anankos' control.

After, they encounter King Sumeragi , who is revealed to be the hooded man at the beginning of the game. Sumeragi is eventually brought down and expresses his pride in his children, knowing that they have the strength to end Anankos.

Sumeragi also reveals that Corrin is not his child and that they have no blood connection to the Hoshidan royal siblings.
